Learn in a private and personalized setting how to meditate on your own, without the need of a guide, guru, or technology. I teach from a non-dogmatic perspective and emphasize the foundational and universal wisdom to practice safely and meaningfully. This is about learning how to use these tools on your own, rather than me just guiding you the whole time. You can be completely new to meditating or an experienced practitioner looking to go deeper.
Meditation - We'll initially focus on inner object referral meditating. We can cover various styles of meditation depending on your objectives and preference, including mindfulness, compassion meditations, mantra or sacred word prayer, imagery, body scans, open awareness, embodied contemplation, insight, and techniques for either relaxation or focus.
Breathwork - We can incorporate breath for both embodied contemplation purposes as well as to optimize health through nervous system regulation. I utilize Buteyko methods for corrective or functional breathing. These are simple but powerful techniques to correct our breathing patterns and thus regulate our nervous system and help to relieve stress (with meditative states as a residual effect).
Mindfulness - Meditation is not the point of meditation. In any of my work with meditation, the objective is always cultivating (1) compassionate presence and (2) contemplative wisdom to take with you off the mat. So in learning meditation from me, you'll inherently learn mindfulness and much more.
Consciousness Exploration - For more experienced and grounded meditators, we can delve deeper into self-enquiry, disidentification, journeys, lucidity, illusory form, or non-local awareness. Compassionate presence and contemplative wisdom are still always the focus, or it's just another delusion.
Meditation and mindfulness training as well as functioning breath coaching sessions are 1-hour over zoom or in-person in New York City. Please reach out to book locally at Balance Arts Center in Chelsea or to book for private groups and events.

"I’m still spinning from our reading yesterday. I wanted to reach out and say thank you. You really made me feel okay with embracing the unknown that is in front of me at the moment. Thank you for embracing my energy and what I brought into the session with me."
"This was absolutely amazing. I really really appreciate it! So much of that resonated so deeply. Thank you again :) "
"I had a wonderful experience. Your astrology is more than just a recreational use; it's empowering, eye-opening, and truly invaluable. I'm eager to schedule another session to dive deeper into other areas of my birth chart, as I found it fascinating and so applicable!"
"Susan did a solar return overview for me, which was very illuminating. I learned about aspects of my natal chart I had not been clear about before and these were so validating to me as I undergo a period of profound transition in all aspects of my life. Her insight imbued me with confidence in the direction I’m going and hope for a positive outcome. Understanding where I can experience flow instead of friction is key to empowerment and success."
"My reading was awesome. The information covered regarding my career path and timeline helped clarify a lot of what I was feeling and dealing with, and reduced my stress level on outcomes and timelines. I was able to see a much larger view of my situation and understand the timing of my plans, which allowed me to be more present and creative in my work. She even touched on an aspect of myself that was so new and recent to me that I was completely surprised she was able to see it so clearly. Overall, I gained much-needed perspective, and because of this, I am able to be more present with my projects vs worrying about the future. I now feel confident and at ease with my plans."
"I have never been able to journal consistently until I found your 2024 journal on Amazon. I can’t begin to tell you how impactful it has been on my healing journey."
What to Know / FAQs
Birth charts, also called natal charts, are the map of the cosmos at the exact moment and location of your birth - the energy and vibration the universe sounded at that very moment. It is your spherical coordinates in spacetime, and you are the celestial holographic projection of these coordinates here on Earth so infinity can know itself.
This is the archetypal map of your subjective awareness. Where most psychology or personality frameworks simplify who you are, astrology allows you to walk through your authentic manyfold complexity.
You'll need to have your date, location, and time of birth.
I'm an archetypal and evolutionary astrologer, both psychological and spiritual, using the western tropical zodiac and primarily whole sign houses. I also incorporate Ancient Hellenistic Astrology and Jyotish (Vedic) Astrology.
My approach is a fusion across these styles, from ancient to modern, esoteric to psychological, and technical and intuitive. I work with archetypal energies and cyclical themes, so actual astrology and not simplistic generalizations. I importantly take a mindful and holistic approach.
I use evolutionary astrology, but I don't concoct past life narratives (feel free to ask me if you want to hear my rant on this). I talk about your soul journey, your spiritual journey towards meeting yourself, and time/space fluidity and you can interpret & integrate that however you choose.
Psychosynthesis is a transpersonal or spiritual psychology developed by Roberto Assagioli, a lesser-known contemporary of Carl Jung. Unlike psychoanalysis, however, psychosynthesis is not a perpetual analysis of the psyche and unconscious, but instead seeks to synthesize our conscious and unconscious layers to create inner harmony and importantly expand to higher consciousness states. The emphasis is on parts work, purpose, direction, and authentic will.
"Psyche" meant "soul" in Ancient Greek, but we've separated the two and lost the connection to the latter. Psychosynthesis reclaims our soulfulness and reintegrates this into our very being for true mind-body-spirit based self-healing.
If you are familiar with Inner Family Systems (IFS Therapy), Psychosynthesis created an earlier framework that is very similar in terms of parts work. Psychosynthesis encompasses various other tools, however, and is a much deeper and spiritual based modality. I am not certified in IFS but have studied and taken courses on that practice as well.
At its most ambitious and for those on a spiritual path who are ready to detach, Psychosynthesis is a framework for Self-Realization.
You can read more about it here.
Breathwork can mean multiple things and I work with the breath from all ends of the spectrum.
First, Biodynamic Breathwork & Trauma Release System (BBTRS®) is a breathwork therapy I use that’s targeted specifically for trauma release. BBTRS uses conscious connected breathing, along with supportive touch and bodywork, sound, movement, and conscious emotional expression to activate the body's physiological responses and experience altered states of consciousness (psychedelic like) or more heart-centered states that ease the defensive outer layers to consciously release tension from the autonomic nervous system. Importantly, BBTRS as well as my approach work with this delicately, appropriately, and in line with your needs in the present moment - the focus is real healing, not over-activation or temporary catharsis which you see in most breathwork. This type of trauma release breathwork is more activating by design.
Secondly, if you're looking for a more gentle or corrective breathwork to regulate our emotional body and help ease anxiety, check out my private meditation training where we can work to breath right and ease the mind and body. I primarily use Buteyko breathing methods. Changing how we breathe, changes how our nervous system functions.
Lastly, I weave in various other breathing techniques from both western somatics as well as Tibetan Buddhist & Vajrayana inspired. The objective is always the same, to regulate, connect, and revitalize our life force. You'll get a taste of this one in either of my sessions.
Yes! Please reach out and happy to discuss private groups, events, or corporate offsites for meditation and/or breathwork instruction. You can also reach out for in-person sessions (in NYC), either individually or for groups.
No, coaching and therapy are separate modalities, and I am not a psychologist, licensed therapist, or psychiatrist, and these services do not substitute for that medical care.
My sessions are not the fluffy motivational kind of coaching though but is transformative work that taps into your own inner wisdom. This is not about endless navel gazing and self-reflection or getting lost in the past. There is a strong emphasis in my work on promoting conscious action in your life, in the world, and your own authentic purpose.
You'll need to have an inner sense of motivation and willingness to do the work for sessions to be truly beneficial for you and a sense of real grounding and healing before true spiritual exploration.
I work from a spiritually attuned perspective, which is the source of any and all healing and why most trauma modalities today are not coming from traditional psychology textbooks or graduate programs but slowly making their way back to the root of healing, your own root. My work is about exploring who you are before anything that's happened to you or before life's conditioning and opening fully to all your complexity.
